Located in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2012, the population was 75,283. The county seat is New Albany. Floyd County is the county with the second-smallest land area in the entire state. It was formed in the year 1819 from neighboring Clark, and Harrison counties. Floyd county is divided into four communities, New Albany, Georgetown, Greenville and Floyd Knobs. Floyd County is also part of the Louisville/Jefferson County, KY–IN Metropolitan Statistical Area.
